Plaza Area Design - Buffalo Soldier Historical Plaques
The Buffalo Soldier historical plaque holders are installed. The six plaque holders will feature information about the following people and events:
The first commanders of the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments: Col Edward Hatch (9th Cav) and Col Benjamin Grierson (10 Cav).
The first three successful black graduates of West Point: Henry O. Flipper, John Hanks Alexander and Charles Young.
The four major military engagements: The Spanish-Cuba-American War, The Philippines-American War, The Punitive Expedition of 1916 and 1917 and the Battle of Nogales.
The Buffalo Soldiers and the National Park Service
